Connecting to the VPN

Whereas previously you would access by having your IP whitelisted or using the Yard office VPN, you can now use OpenVPN and access the server|database on Positive Internet's servers.

If you don't have credentials for Positive Internet's OpenVPN, please contact your Manager and they will send over what you need.

Instructions

Please follow the step by step guide below on how to setup and use OpenVPN and connect to the Cubed databases.

  1. Save the configuration file that you've been sent.

  2. Download the OpenVPN client: https://openvpn.net/vpn-client/

  3. Run through the installer process, if an administrator prompt appears then this does needs to be accepted.

  4. Once the installer closes, the application should open automatically. If not, search for "OpenVPN Connect"

  5. Open the application, run through the instructions which explain how to import a profile (you can follow these instructions or the ones below).

  6. Drag the profile into the "import" screen

  7. You should see "Profile Name: vpn.cubed.engineering [first_last]"

  8. Click 'connect'

  9. You should see a green "CONNECTED" message, open a terminal and try to "ping 10.3.63.6"

  10. Now try DNS resolution with the command "ping cubed-stge-dash-a." (the . is required)
